I love America
...because only here in Merukuh can you get the Cruzin [sic] Cooler, which "combines two basic necessities of life, the ability to have cold food or a beverage handy along with the means to get somewhere, without walking." I mean, really, we wouldn't want to have to walk while we're hauling our thirty pack of Coors Light, would we?

The Earth Is Not Moving!
Read all about the Copernican and Darwinian Myths (and their many ramifications all the way to Big Bangism!) at http://www.fixedearth.com/.
I'm going to assume that this is a joke.

Depressing day
So today marks the completion of a twenty year radical turn towards a judicial theocracy. I don't know what makes me more upset: that soon scared teenage women will be turning to back alley abortions again or that smug, white conservative fatcat pukes are going to be celebrating their "success" now. I spent most of the 2004 election trying to remind people that the war in Iraq was important, but the bigger issue was that the winner was probably going to get to pick two Supremes. Mandate, indeed.
A co-worker in the art department does some really beautiful political posters and graphics. It feels appropriate to share today. I'll probably be buying one of those "Just Pretend It's Okay" stickers.

Treducks kicks it in Vegas
In one of the more unusual developments I've seen in a little while, a friend of mine from work has quit his job to become a professional poker player. He's pretty good, if a little crazy - he used to own pet ducks and live in an airstream trailer (behaviour you generally don't see in IT types). I'm very curious to see how he does as I've been in a few dustups with him at work cash games. Sometimes he wins, sometimes I win. I am pleased to report, however, that I usually take his money on the golf course.
Anyway, here's his blog, treducks, which I'll be adding to my links list. Best of luck to you, Ben.

A collection of collections?
OK, so a mailing list I'm on started getting into a thread war about who had the biggest geek cred. Inevitably, the topic drifted to Howard Chaykin Star Wars one sheets, Blade Runner issues of Cinefex and signed copies of the William Gibson script for Alien 3. I became more and more thankful that I had a real life spread amongst the geekness.
The competition officially ended when someone posted this guy, which as you go through the 9th and 10th pages just starts to get scary.

These boots were made for shreddin'
So this winter I was going to join my wife and some friends in the snowboarding nation. We've all pitched in and rented a cabin in Tahoe City for the winter. Last weekend we got a foot of snow on Saturday and then the sun came out on Sunday. Hella sweet fresh pow-pow, bro.
For various reasons not worth getting into, I've decided to stay on two boards for at least the time being. Today I picked up some new boots and I can not wait to get out there and start shredding on them. The best part? The plastic shell is clear.
