On Friday, the missus and I went to The Crucible's Fire Arts Festival, a presentation of several artists who work with fire and electricity. Aside from the usual Burning Man fire-dancing ravers junk, there was some incredibly cool stuff. Hilights included: a 15-foot tall Tesla coil (pictured) and several installations that shot flames 70-80 feet into the air. The most insane piece we saw, though, was a circular array of fans into which two guys in fire suits were injecting sprays of gasoline. The net result was a cyclone of flame that leapt about 100 feet into the air and danced around like a true funnel cloud. I'll post a picture of that later.
