Pandora
My musical world has been metaphorically rocked this morning. A friend put me on to Pandora, which, in a nutshell, is a tivo-like rating interface for streaming internet radio.
Created by the "Music Genorme Project", you start a radio station by entering an artist or song that you like. It will start streaming a song by that artist followed by songs that are like that artist or in that style. You can then improve the heuristic by rating the new suggestions or adding more bands. It then provides links to buy an album from Amazon or the song from iTunes (where available).
The best part is that you can create an account (free, but you may get ads) and store up to 100 different radio stations.
I'm curious to see how far it goes. So far, I put in Swingin' Utters and I've heard the Dropkick Murphys, Me First and The Gimme Gimmes, Shipwreck Union (which I didn't care for), NOFX and the Ramones.
Sweet. Strike Anywhere just came on. I'm out.
Update: Wanna hear Rotomonkey Radio?
