Treducks kicks it in Vegas

In one of the more unusual developments I've seen in a little while, a friend of mine from work has quit his job to become a professional poker player. He's pretty good, if a little crazy - he used to own pet ducks and live in an airstream trailer (behaviour you generally don't see in IT types). I'm very curious to see how he does as I've been in a few dustups with him at work cash games. Sometimes he wins, sometimes I win. I am pleased to report, however, that I usually take his money on the golf course.

Anyway, here's his blog, treducks, which I'll be adding to my links list. Best of luck to you, Ben.

Todd's not the only one

In all fairness, Todd's not the only famous one these days. Our boy KP has been getting his gym on.

Nice ball, Kevin.

Belvedere is SO famous

First the New York Times and now Gothamist? She's everywhere. I suppose it's cool that her daddy is getting all this attention, but really. Her ego is going to get totally out of control. Next thing you know she'll be partying in St. Bart's....

Where's Dan?

My pal Seņor Taco has just passed an outstanding milestone: he recently lost his 75th pound. In addition to just being really happy for him, he's been an inspiration - seeing how happy he's been recently is one of the larger reasons why I'm taking steps to get back into shape. It looks like fun.

I know he probably doesn't want this kind of attention, but this time I'm not respecting his wishes. Now get in my belly.

Yeah....

Don't you hate it when you know someone's reading your blog but they're too chicken to comment?

KP ist der hammar!

This weekend I had the pleasure of flying back to New York to surprise my friend KP while he ran the NYC marathon. It was totally awesome: not only did KP do extremely well (4:17:52), but it was a beautiful day and I got to spend it with some really good friends. Since I got home at almost 2 am, photos will go up later but some others: tien mao's, limonada's and rion's.

As a bonus, on my flight back (which had, incidentally, about 10 passengers who had run the marathon), I got to see the northern lights, which I haven't seen since I was about five years old.

Update: KP has written an excellent write-up of his experiences. Definitely worth the read.

Friends with babies

Sometimes it's crazy that I have friends with children.

KP likey clouds

My boy KP done went and made himself famous! He was interviewed by the Washington Post for an article about weather bloggers and, while I disagree with his choice of music for the weekend, I think it's pretty cool that he's taken this whole Gothamist Weather thing and run with it. Actually, since Charley turned out to be an overrated dud for us (no disrespect to its victims in Florida), maybe it's not such a bad musical choice after all.

Since the actual article requires registering, I'll link to the Gothamist Weather summary instead.

California

I will be moving to Berkeley in a few weeks to start a new job. Since the love of my life, Athena, is already out there, I've had the good fortune to be able to head west every few weeks this summer, but last weekend's trip was the first time it really started to feel like home. The highlight of the weekend probably had to be watching the condor, complete with five foot wing span, circling us as we walked through the fog in the hills above Muir Beach.

Thanks Dan!

A bunch of ripening bananas to my friend Dan for suggesting the tagline "flinging poo with pictures". He's a swarthy pirate who is looking forward to dragging me to some excellent shows once I move out to Berkeley.
